Our Programs
The Cosmopolitan Club of Roanoke is dedicated to helping our community through the following programs.
ANNUAL TRACK MEET SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Cosmopolitan Club of Roanoke annually awards two $3,500 scholarships to a Senior High School male and a Senior High School female Cosmopolitan Track Meet participant that is pursuing further education after graduation.
Helping the Speech & Hearing Impaired
In 1958, our newly charted Club, decided it would establish a speech & hearing clinic that would make its services available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. Our Club continues to support the Roanoke Valley Speech & Hearing Center today both financially and by providing leadership support.
THE COSMOPOLITAN INVITATIONAL TRACK & FIELD MEET
The Cosmopolitan Invitational Track & Field Meet began in 1966 and is the longest running sports event in Southwest Virginia. Beginning with four high schools in 1966, the event now attracts 40 middle, junior and senior high schools and over 1800 student athletes.
Curing Diabetes
The Roanoke Club, in addition to supporting a recent International project to fund research at the Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) Strelitz Diabetes Center, continues to support the leading edge research ongoing at EVMS. On an individual basis, the club supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) which funds research at both EVMS and the University of Virginia
Our Impact
The Cosmopolitan Club of Roanoke concentrates its community efforts into three areas - the Cosmopolitan Invitational Track & Field Meet held every spring, support for the Roanoke Valley Speech & Hearing Center (RVSHC) and raising funds to cure Diabetes.
