What We Do

track1Cosmo Track – The Cosmopolitan Invitational Track & Field Meet began in 1966 and is the longest running sports event in Southwest Virginia. Beginning with four high schools in 1966, the event now attracts 34 middle, junior and senior high schools and over 1200 student athletes. The meet has grown into the highlight of the year for many boys and girls who otherwise would not get the opportunity to participate in a major track meet. Since awarding its first scholarship in 2000, the club has awarded $42,500 through 2012 and now awards a $3,000 scholarship to an outstanding senior boy and girl track participant every year.

rvsh1Helping the Speech & Hearing Impaired – In 1958, our newly charted Club, decided it would establish a speech & hearing clinic that would m a k e i t s s e r vi c e s available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. Our Club continues to support the Roanoke Valley Speech & Hearing Center today both financially and by providing leadership support.

doctors1Curing Diabetes – The Roanoke Club, in addition to supporting a recent International project to fund research at the Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) Strelitz Diabetes Center, continues to support the leading edge research ongoing at EVMS. On an individual basis, the club supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) which funds research at both EVMS and the University of Virginia.
